I know what probably happened:

They wanted to get rid of that pole, but it was being held by a pole lock.

That is true. I have to get creative a lot of the time. Most of my antiques aren’t in their computer. I used to tell them what it was for just to see the blank look on their faces! Now for instance if I need something for the engine on Herbie the 1961 F550 I have to tell them to look up a 1958 Ford Fairlane!
