Wife and I had some discussions about this. I told her I was well established in my life style before we met, and that if it bothered her she had every opportunity to bail before we got married ;) So it is her problem, not mine :65:

I purchased a hoop house frame work for scrap a price about five years ago. The owner said it was a frame work for a wedding tent, I thought it looked more like a hoop house but it was more pointed at the top instead of a U shape. I just put it on pallets in a clearing in my woods behind my house. About a month ago I put together one section just to see how big it was. From ground to peak it is twelve feet high and from leg to leg it is twenty eight feet. I have enough sections to make it fifty feet long if I space them every five feet apart. That would make a enclosure twenty eight feet by fifty feet. I was planning on covering it with a tarp and some old metal siding spaced close enough to help support the tarp. This would be quite a substantial enclosure with plenty of room to hide my stuff that I have setting out in the weather. Which is mostly some scrap metal, a few rain barrels and some items in my metal building that take up space. Things like rear rototillers, back blade, mowing decks, spray rig, lawn roller and the like.

The ball and chain didn't like the idea because she knows what you guys are talking about! The more space you have the more stuff you'll acquire. So it sets in the back woods ready for another day in the life of Harry. :65:

It can be tough and expensive to find good tarps that will last more than 6 months or a year. I found some canvas tarps at Menards, some are 4 years old and are a little faded but still in one piece, but a 6'x8' is $25.

A friend gave me a couple of tarps that he just wanted rid of. One is used and another is new in a box. The used one is silver which is usually the more durable ones. The new in the box is blue, less durable. Both tarps are fifty feet by one hundred feet. I figured those would get by for a few years.

Well we survived the storm Tuesday night through Wednesday. The winds really picked up Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Our power flickered a bunch during the night and then went out about 6AM. Around the same time I heard something crashing outside and thought there goes my grill off the deck. When I got up, the grill was there but my daughters swingset blew about 50 feet across the yard. I surveyed the damage and found the swing set slide was damaged and I found a couple more of my shingles in the yard :cuss: :headbash:
I did get to use my my new inverter generator for about 12 hours. I was able to run the fridge, the forced hot air propane heating system, a few lights, TV/DVD player for the kiddos and a few kitchen appliances. I really like the inverter generator. Its very quiet and burns very little gas. I used about 2 gallons all way.
I'm glad I worked from home on Wednesday. Multiple trees and power lines down in the nearby roads blocking my normal access to civilization. Out of state crews were still cleaning up the trees tonight when I got home from work.

Thursday morning my parents contacted me saying they had a bunch of trees down. The trees are all at the back of the property line in an area where the ground is rather wet at times of the year. I haven't seen the carnage in person yet but they say 3-4 larger hardwoods are down with another 5-6 smaller hardwoods holding up the larger trees. Its like a whole line of trees blew over. Shouldn't be any damage, the trees are 75-100 feet from the house.
