Dave, it only ran for a short time as long as the fuel in the hose, but no smoke. What puzzles me is how hard it turns over. Had to put two car batteries in parallel. And it's hard to start. 🤷‍♂️ more troubleshooting needed. :geek: :writing:

1 high compression engine .
2 weak starter / dirty armature.
heavy engine oil .
stiff from not running in a long time .
other things like lack of throttle on start up ect.
all of the above

Most likely is the jumper cables can't handle the current load.

Great pictures @MattA, I like the vintage excavator with cables. We have a book for kids about a dog named Harry who doesn't like getting baths and goes all day through town and gets really dirty. Classic children story. In that book there's an excavator like that and I was always wondering if I could ever see a real one one day.
