Case 224 ready to cut grass

After an extensive battle of getting this tractor ready for grass cutting and wood splitting, later on, she’s greased up, well what a job to get the nipples on the steering shaft and the part the drag link hooks to. Then I needed to replace a non leaking hydraulic hose, the one from the cooler to tank, and that was a battle. Princess autos hydraulic centre has gone down hill big time. So got hose. Says 3/4 on it. Ya right. 11/16. Would not fit. So go back today, all I get is. Nothing I can do for ya. Thanks a lot, I said. Any way I get a piece elsewhere and put it on. Worked fine. Then on to the deck. Nasty nasty to get on. My knees are hurtin. But it’s together and runs good.
Long couple of days.

I’m guessing the lower arms. And was not the right cylinder on it. I took that off. The part bolted to the tractor seems to be correct. I’ve only owned it for couple of years. I’m guessing it had a tiller at one time Spike.

Noel I have to ask, what is your 224 like compared to the big wheel and is it as fun?

Those hoses are indeed a pain to put on. I used the 3/4 suction hose from Princess Auto, it worked but not easy.

Yes they are a pain to get on. Sometimes I put a little silicone grease on the inside of the hose which helps. Noel I like the tread design of your 224. :peace: Harry

I like them both Keith. The big wheel tractor is cool to use and looks cool. They both work good. The big wheel, I call them hi crop tractors, have quite a bit more ground clearance. So it would work better in rough terrain, in woods and snow. They both will go about 9 mph, so the will scat right along, in high range.

Glad you got it together and ready to go Noel! Wrong parts and unhelpful people at the store sure seems to be the norm nowadays, it’s aggravating.
