Should have stuck with a penny.

Post by Spike188 »

Oops my mistake, I was going to put a penny on the track but went with a looney (Canadian 1 dollar coin) instead.

This is our living room window veiw. I won't get much done today. Distracted by big toys and front row seat.

Could just be high winds and empty cars with lots of surface area. This sort of thing happens. Enjoy the show 👍

My brother-in-law said that looney on the track levels inflation.

Headend power was brought in late evening to assist while using rerailers. Assiting were 2 sets of crains lifting, one at the crossing and another set about 15 cars back.
20230722_195456.jpg
These were taken about 6 this evening. Most of these trains are 13000 feet. Wolverton yard is three miles long the head end was 100 feet from clearing the west end. There was about 100 feet between the flipped autorack and the break. They were creeping through the yard with about 900 feet of train still east of the crossing. The rack that flipped would have been on the ground for sometime then hit a remote turnout. Opps. 14 of the remaining cars were on the ground and upright. By noon the head end section of the train had been cleared. This afternoon I lost count of the loads of gravel being stockpiled on the road. Based on the amount of gravel and premanufactured track being delivered there may have been a washout.

Got to see a derailment up close years ago. Loaded dump truck tried to beat the train and lost. I think everyone survived but the dump truck was destroyed along with 2 diesel electric engines. They came off the tracks, laid on there sides, and burned to a crisp. Workers lined all the train cars up in the field by our house. They included several auto carriers with new Chevy trucks!

Enjoy the show, I’m sure they will be out there all night.
