Finally getting to this non Case tractor.

:109: Engine blew up in this tractor in January or February. So I fixed up another engine to put in. Kohler k321 14hp. This engine knows this tractor. It’s been in there and blew up before. Long story on this tractor.
Any way, we are finally getting tractors serviced and this one was in the pile.
It broke one of the engine mounts of the frame. Never like those rubber mounts. So welded the mount back on. Took all the old rotted broken rubber mounts out. Enough of that. Welded metal blocked in with holes in them. The engine mount will bolt to the new blocks. And engine will be solid. Just like the older ford tractors that had the engine base welded to the frame. So lots to do yet, but the motor should be bolted in tomorrow. Then it’s on to see if this engine will run. If so, on to finish the install, service the tractor, put the tin work on and install the blower and service it.

Hoping it works. :42:

The walk behind blower you see, I bought new Nov 1990.

Thanks Jeff. One never knows. Hehe. The older ford tractors that I mentioned with the engine bases weld to the frame, is in picture number 7. That style ford. If you want to take the engine out of that tractor, you unbolt the base pan bolts and lift it out.

It’s alive, but not sure for how long. Engine we were putting the ford finally. Is in and got it running this morning. But a noise in it. Started up great. Ran it for twenty minutes at 2000 rpm. Then changed the oil. Still have a few service things to do to the tractor. Need a blower belt. Get the tins on. Service and install the blower.
So, slowly making my way to hibrrrnation, which should of started November first ! :45:

So far the solid bolted engine is going to be good, for what we can see.
A little smoke from the oil I put in the cylinder, for start up.

You make an interesting point Noel. The 1 cylinder Kohlers are known for vibration, and I have several with the K321 (14hp). I honestly am not sure I can feel a difference in vibration at seat level or anywhere on the tractor between the 644 which has the engine bolted to the frame, and the 444 which has the rubber mounts.
