Had to block off and back drag the lower driveway section in front of the shop last week as it became soup . First time ever for that bad .
Any chance of landscaping some shallow ditches to lead the water away? I had to do it here, the driveway heads downhill but could get mushy and if the water was running fast enough take the gravel down hill with it. I keep a 2" crown in the driveway, and depending where you measure the ditches are 2 -10 inch deep to keep the water flowing.

I wish I had some elevation here. My immediate area is as flat as a pancake. The ditches all dump intp the Erie Canal which is about a mile away. I’m thinking of digging a mosquito hatchery way in the back of my property and have drainage ditches run to it. That way my gardens could drain off earlier than they do now. :peace: Harry

Well if you do, relocate :446cart: the topsoil to your garden and build up its elevation even more, win-win ;)

Our little lot is the lowest point of the entire area, except for a corner which leads to ditch that goes away from us. I would have to raise the entire lot. :hitsfan: :hitsfan: :hitsfan: To do that, many dump trucks of soil would have to be brought in, and also a permit is needed. When I bought it it was the end of September, I had no idea about the bog problem, everything was dry, green, and beautiful. One of the reasons for the smaller backhoe is to run a ditch on two sides of the lot, might help. Oh well, you can't win them all in life. :spin:

Just got back from a trip to Ottawa, and then swung by our property to have a look at how things went this winter - had to walk up the driveway... Still have a good foot of snow on the driveway across the back of the property - and 2-3 foot drifts all over - might be a few more weeks before I can start doing any work up there...
