@RoamingGnome That’s kind of our situation too. The closest gas station / convenience store is 10 miles from the house. We do have the tavern down along the river in our little village for a good bar burger. You do have to plan a little bit when going to “town” but I love it! We talk about moving from time to time, but I would sure hate to give this up!

Similar weather here. All of my shingles are still on the roof. Should be back up in the 50's here soon.

So the weather in my area Webster, NY (WNY) on Wednesday night was horrific! not only were the temps down into the low 20's (F) but the winds were blowing and we had swirling gusts upto 60 MPH (sorry guys north of the boarder i'm using imperial). So I have/had my portable shed up at the beginning of the night- can you see where this is going? In the morning I found my shed alongside my garage so 50+ feet away hung up in a tree!!! The anchors (10 inch tent stakes) were spread along the ground from its original place.. Just ordered 30 inch stakes now and will use steel wire too. Anyone have a portable building such as a workshop or garage and want to share their anchoring methods? BTW, I untangled the shed from the tree it was lodged in and disassembled so I could move it on my own and there was no damage! Should have taken some pics -- sorry but more worried about gtting the shed out of the trees and disassembled so it did not damage anything

Ray maybe try the spiral screw in stakes. I had one from a dog stake out leash that worked great. :peace: Harry

3C now and up to 8C and rain today. Wind southwest at 40 kilometres. Snow has melted a lot and will be again today. Could be an early spring. I remember about 10 years or so ago I was plowing my gardens on April first. Normally it would be first week or so of May before I’d do that.

Ray , google portable shed / garage anchor . I have 6 of the tarp covered metal frame units that are held down by these anchors they supply . Nothing moves .
Note , there is an addapter for an impact driver that makes installing and removing easir .

Looks like spring has sprung here in WNY. Was in the 60’s yesterday and again today. They always say if you get St. Paddy’s day here you’re good, so I’ll have to wait and see about that. :peace: Harry
