Quite an exciting day at the auction!

Post by JSinMO »

Well fellas today was auction day, and it was something else! There were rows and rows of everything Case. Son and I spent most of the day there. The two highlights of the day were an original dealership neon sign that sold for $21,000.00 sorry no pictures. The other was a 1916 Case automobile restored.

The winning bid was $180,000.00! That the highest sale price I have ever seen at a local auction. Here are just a few pictures of other items on sale.

@Eugen stated in another post that he was a tractorholic, it seems I share the same affliction.

I did buy some things. As I’m still new to the garden tractor scene I’d like to list list the items and what I spent to get your opinions if I under paid, paid just right or paid too much.

1) 1974 Case 446 non running but appears to be complete. Incorrect paint, motor not stuck appears to have compression. Tractor has Case three point hitch with control valve on the back and sleeve hitch adaptor. Also came with a poor mower deck that will need work.

Price was $700.

2) Case blade appears to be in really good condition and complete. I think it is a 46”

Price was $130.

I did buy one other item. I didn’t plan to bid , but I just couldn’t help myself.
1961 Ford F500 grain truck. I think a 293 V8. 4 speed. Has hydraulic 13 foot dump bed. The truck runs but has no brakes. Im hauling it home tomorrow. Price was $550

Guys I have to admit I’m pretty excited about getting these things! There’s no question I will start a thread on the 446 as I’m sure I’m gonna need help with it.

I would like to know your thoughts on starting a thread here on the truck. Would the members here like to see updates on its progress, or would you prefer that I omit them from this site? I would like to have a thread on it but if you all deem it unacceptable I completely understand.

@Propane57 I was thinking of you Noel, but there weren’t any extra sleeve hitch parts, sorry.

ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND U.S. DOLLARS?????

Inflation really IS out of hand!

LOL. From what I've read, there are only a few known to exist, and this one is in great shape. I'm really happy for whomever got it!

I'd say you did pretty good on price, 830 including a 3pt hitch, PTO, sleeve hitch adapter and like new blade. That's a great deal. The only way it could possibly fall apart is if the engine or pump had major problems, but the engine has compression and pump problems are fairly rare. So I think you actually could have gone up around $1000 for that package and still be a good deal.

And the TRUCK? The truck is wonderful. Everyone should have a $550 dumping bed farm truck with no brakes. It doesn't get anymore "life is good out here in the country" than that!

Bob

P.S. You blew it on the loader. You'll look back and kick yourself some day for not buying that cheap loader when you had the chance. (In all fairness, the other bidder may have been ready to go up to its true $1500 plus value, so maybe you didn't miss out that bad....)

And you could have transported it home in your farm truck! :))

I think the price on the 446 was a great purchase. The 3ph and rear pto would part for close to your purchase price. @JSinMO you are like the rest of here, gathering a lifetime of projects to finish.

Wow that's a great day JSinMO! That's quite the bid for the car, but like Bob says whomever has it must be thrilled (or hopefully they are!) Can you imagine any of us trying to explain that one to the other half!? :) Good for them!

You did great for sure with the price for that haul. That blade looks brand new!

And the truck is awesome. I would very much enjoy a thread on it. Now I want one!

Cheers!

@thebuildist No worries about kicking myself over that loader Bob. That’s my 648 unloading the mower deck here at the house! :D

Thanks for looking for a sleeve hitch with me in mind. Thanks very much. Nice.

I would like to see the tread on the truck. Never heard of a 293 before. Neat.

You had a great day JSinMO. Great getting new to you things.

Jeff, that price for a 446 with those extras on would be quite amazing around here. I'm glad you had a good time there and for what you got. It would be most interesting if you open a thread on the truck. If I had a farm and came across that truck at that price I'd have gotten it in an instant!

@JSinMO I created a new forum for Other Vehicles, right under My other tractor is. Everyone, feel free to write about any other vehicles you like, trucks, cars, boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc. As I said before, this forum is about Case tractors, but the people we have here are more important than being strict about the topics. :highfive:

 glad you had a fun day. You did fine on the tractor. Something like it here would be that price to a grand or so. As said, the 3pt, rear PTO, and sleeve hitch parted out are worth more than you spent. Hopefully she runs out without major work. The tractor would look great back to it's original color. sorry, I really like the desert sunset tractors, my next will be one. Will be waiting for the getter going thread. :highfive:
A 44" blade in that condition 3-400, so you did great.
The truck will be a cool project.

:446cart: let's go, it's finally time to blow. :peace:
