It was in the 50’s when we arrived. Yesterday it was in the 60’s but on the beach there is a breeze that comes off the gulf. I even got a little sunburn yesterday. They got hit a hurricane in October and the storm surge moved a lot of sand and debris. Captiva seemed to have gotten more than Sanibel. :peace: Harry

Was that this morning? A CASE caster would have its work cut out for it.

3 days this week the school buses were cancelled in our area . For good reason I might add , the back roads drifting and whiteouts have been very bad this week . Hopefully kids get back to school today , so far so good the weather has eased up for now . Just :cuss: cold out . :violin: How are you guys making out . I have more mileage on my snow blower tractor than I have my truck . :headbash: But doing a few neighbours drives has kept the gas cans full .

We’re have a nice January thaw down this way. Temperatures in the 40F to upper 50F almost 60 range. The snow is melting away fast. I wish it would stay like this till spring.

Hard to believe only 2 hours before this I was looking at green (brown) grass in the backyard

- Big floufffy flakes of heavy, wet packing snow - perfect for snowmen and snow balls...

If it keeps up like this there might actually be enough to justify using Maxine and the snow blade to clear off the sidewalk 😆

Took advantage of the thaw yesterday and cleaned off the hard surface part of the driveway with Frankie . Last night it went from +2c (35.5f) and sunny to -20c (-4f) / -30c (-22f) with the wind chill . The temp dropped so fast the wood siding on the house was popping and banging for over an hour . In the 13 years we have been here that is the first time I have heard the old house do that .

Light drizzle started here around noon, but about 2:30 temperature started dropping. The last contractor tried to leave about 3:30, by which time there was a few inches of heavy wet snow on the road. The road past our house is a steep grade. I neglected to warn him about needing to leave via the long way around to avoid the hill. He ended up backing an 1/8th mile against traffic to turn around.

With in minutes of getting the contractor headed home, a game of bumper cars began on the 1/4 mile hill.
The first victim was a jtransport truck,. I warned the driver not attempt the hill but he did not listen. He spun out near the top of hill and started to jack knife. That plugged the up bound traffic because thehill top is a blind intersection. The real carnival began when a train blocked the road at the bottom of the hill. At the best of time this blockage is 20 minutes. I missed seeing a small car 180 into the ditch when passing the jack knifed truck. This was followed by 2 separate rear end collisions, and the ditch swallowing a straight truck. It all happened in slow motion.

By 5:30 all was clear. It was great entertainment watching people being unable to read road condition.

@Spike188 Kelly was wondering why you haven't made a mobile hot chocolate cart you could drag out to the roadside when the circus begins...
You could keep people warm and make a few $$ while doing it ;)
