Sooooo, someone over at mtf (mytractorforum.com) posted that the site suggested him to have a look at tractorforum.com, which suddenly looks the same as guess which other sites?
Both my tractorforum.com and casecoltingersoll.com are owned by Vertical Scope, which turns out it's in Toronto! But tractorforum.com is owned by a US company, carbon media.
Yet all three switched over to the new xenforo forum software at about the same time. Coincidence? :76:
No. I don't believe in coincidences.
Parent company of carbon media usa? Vertical scope.

It's all about money, downside is that because the mods maintained a A+++ site with no spammers let in it flourished and became attractive enough to be marketed by VS that it ended up where it is now.

Looks like it Bob. Yet, I think they're dumb. They could make money AND care for and serve their customers right, which they don't. They treat people like sheep. Some of us are not sheep.

This is a prime example of why most mechanics even the healthy ones are leaving the trade . I would never go back even if my back was fixed and they double the pay. I am enjoying the freedom of working our little farm and doing some small engine work to keep the bills paid .

Those valves might be air compressor valves. That style is uses with a spring loaded spring steel plate seated against the bottom side. The valve and stem do not move unless the drive motor is set to run full time. In that situation the "set pressure unloader valve" will force the valve down letting the compressor run idle while the air is bypassing the seat. The spring steal plates tend to crack in high temp applications or where the filters and oil are not maintained correctly.
Ahm... I never did it, but I can see how it might happen with a backhoe

I think it makes fun of those city women who want anything with a diamond on, remember those tv ads "diamonds are forever" ? My wife grew up in the country side but they had no access to any tractors of any kind, and doesn't want to have anything to do with them now either. I'm fine with that and I'd buy her a diamond if money wasn't a problem.

Actually I got it, That's why I put the wink in it.
1. My adult son got to watch his then-65 year old grandfather --not nearly as robust as this fellow-- do the very same trick. But it was a tilting trailer parked going up a slope. So he drove uphill to meet the trailer, and then when it tilted it went WAY uphill, and physics took over from there. An ambulance, a brief visit to the ER, no major deal in the end. But my son is scarred for life for having watched it happen!
2. The dude has the cables removed so that his tailgate is bent past flat, laying/buckling down on the ridge of the bumper. Even if it worked, he was going to do $500 or more damage to his shiny truck! What was he thinking???
LOL

It's not like me to laugh at other people mishaps, hopefully the guy didn't get hurt. But really, it baffles the mind how people think some stunts like this will work.
One of the greatest finds for me is a manual winch that I take with me when I get another tractor. Even so I stay out of the trajectory in case the steel cable comes undone or snaps. When I was young I worked for one year in a coal mine. That taught me all kinds of things about being around heavy things that can crush you.
Let's stay safe everyone!

I can imagine the frustration Dave. Electrical gremlins on cars are the worst! After I was in the army I spent a year as electrician in a large bearing factory. I loved working on the machinery there, but it was much simpler, contactors, relays, switches, lots of room. What bothers me most about working on cars today is the lack of room. It's a pleasure to work on our tractors though!

Campfire Humor - "FRIED CHICKEN"
The old farmer was on his deathbed. He had only hours to live when suddenly he smelled the scent of fried chicken wafting into his room. Aaahhhh…He loved fried chicken more than anything else in the world.
With his last bit of energy, he pulled himself out of bed…Down the stairs and into the kitchen he went. There was his beloved wife, Clair, standing at the stove frying up a second pan of chicken. As he reached towards the platter next to the stove for what might possibly be his last drum stick, he got smacked across the back of the hand with the wooden spoon his wife was holding.
“Leave them alone” she scolded. “They’re for the funeral!”

That pic reminds me when I was in high school auto shop. There was a guy in my class that drove dirt track stock cars in the summer and thought he knew everything about cars. He was a little older than most of the other students, so that tells you something about his academic record. He had a really nice Ford Falcon Sprint car he drove to school. He had it in the shop class and someone dropped a washer down the carburetor. He went to start it up after the class and it made a loud racket. He ended up tearing it apart and found the washer. The next day the teacher read us the riot act and wanted someone to come forward. No one owned up to it as I can remember, and it was just forgotten about.

Have you heard about the new anti-theft system in some cars? It 100% stops all auto theft by young punks and thugs.
They call it a "stick shift."

TOOLS EXPLAINED
DRILL PRESS :
A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it.
WIRE WHEEL :
Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, 'Oh sh*t'
ANGLE GRINDER :
A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short.
PLIERS :
Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters.
BELT SANDER :
An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs.
HACKSAW :
One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle... It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes.
MOLE-GRIPS : Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.
OXY-ACETYLENE TORCH :
Used almost entirely for setting on fire various flammable objects in your shop. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race..
TABLE SAW :
A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity.
HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK :
Used for lowering an automobile to the ground after you have installed your new brake shoes, trapping the jack handle firmly under the bumper.
BAND SAW :
A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge.
TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST :
A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect.
PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER :
Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads.
STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER :
A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws and butchering your palms.
PRY BAR :
A tool used to crumple the metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50p part.
HOSE CUTTER :
A tool used to make hoses too short.
HAMMER :
Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
STANLEY KNIFE :
Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on contents such as seats, vinyl records, liquids in plastic bottles, collector magazines, refund checks, and rubber or plastic parts. Especially useful for slicing work clothes, but only while in use.
ADJUSTABLE SPANNER:
aka "Another hammer", aka "the Swedish Nut Lathe", aka "Crescent Wrench". Commonly used as a one size fits all wrench, usually results in rounding off nut heads before the use of pliers. Will randomly adjust size between bolts, resulting in busted knuckles, curse words, and multiple threats to any inanimate objects within the immediate vicinity.
BASTARD TOOL :
Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling 'Bastard' at the top of your lungs. It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need.

I think Kelly (aka ) Would say I probably don't need the costume...
The look seems to come naturally, one nice thing about being retired is that it's a lot easier to keep clean -
I was at Toromont CAT before I retired and spent most of my time working on rebuilds/refits of big loaders/scrapers and haul trucks used by the steel company - coming home with a beard full of coal or slag dust would make me look 10+ yrs younger but was a pain to wash out...

My sister gave me a lawn tractor almost identical to that, was my first lawn tractor. was ok to cut grass. Then I got the "brilliant" idea of attaching a 1/8 thick plate to half the front frame, as a blade to push dirt. I need to find those pictures... what was I thinking. At some point after that, I traded it for a 224.

Walking out of one track is annoying, 2 at the same time definitely kicks it up a notch. Looks like he slid sideways down the bank and out of his shoes... At least it's gravel - last time I put a track back on an excavator it was in the middle of a coal field at one of the local steel mills - that was a dirty job

Hehe. I saw one once where the fella mounted a can on the mower just left of the centre of the mower toward the chute exit. Can was mounted on a 45 degree angle. It was his brush chipper. Start her up, feed the small twigs and brush in and it chewed it all up. Fella said it worked great. And he could still use it for a push mower to cut grass.

Was this crawler one of a kind. The International TD24 was the largest production crawler for International in the 1950's. It top out just under 8 ft tall. The tracks on this one must be a least 7 and total hight 14? Was this an early cut and paste image to make the crawler larger than life?

At first I thought it was photo trickery - but then I found another wonderful photo of the monster tractor - Looks like it was a larger than life wooden mock up of a TD 24 for trade show / fall fair purposes

I had noticed this site was a little quiet lately, not worried about it - seems like it's that time of year when people are catching up on all the real-life stuff that gets put on hold when messed up spring weather makes us put things on the back burner.
For myself the is happening around here - Realtor is so she can list our property in the city, Builder is finally itching to get going on building our house / garage up north, neighbour Kelly with the excavating company wants to start clearing and digging holes for said house and garage and I'm cause there is only one of me - can't be in the city cleaning and purging and out in the forest clearing trees at the build site...
and did I mention Schrödinger's Cash? Same idea as Schrödinger's Cat (google it) - In our case it's basically a theoretical big bag of full of either cash or bills - you just know it's big and bulky, everyone is impressed by your perceived appearance of wealth - (that big bag full of crinkling paper) - and everybody likes you and wants to do work for you, as long as they keep thinking it's a big bag of cash... But what happens if you open the bag and it's full of... ???
Patience, and remembering it's not only about the destination, but finding things to enjoy on the journey as well

@RoamingGnome so true, I came to the conclusion that the right definition for expectation is that feeling you have right before feeling disappointed. So I try to cultivate a no expectation attitude and go with the flow, enjoy the ride. Two years ago we had plans to build an addition to our small house, and hit walls at every step. This last Saturday a few of us gathered at our village cemetery and my sister got buried. There is a certain perspective one gets upon seeing dear ones go in the ground. The simple event of planting yesterday a few tomato, cucumber, and pepper plants together with my three and a half years old son Timothy was enough to lift me up and adding to the perspective. None of us knows when the end strikes, so why struggle to have such high expectations? Even if the addition never happens, we can be happy with the dear ones in the smallest house.
As for the site, I know, it goes through phases. Everyone gets busy with this or that, it's fine.
We keep and
There's my ramble for today

I've sure been exceptionally quiet lately. I got a million irons in the fire. Progress on the backhoe is very slow coming. And the tractor itself is out of commission, since instead of a rear wheel, it has a cutting head bolted to the passenger side rear wheel hub.
I'm done with the axle tube machining, but I've thinned it down a bit, so it really needs the new reinforcing brace to be clamped (bolted) on around that axle tube boss. But I can't bolt it on until I've finished fabricating it. And the progress on the fabrication is very slow.
So this is actually the harded part of the build. But by and by I'll work my way through it.
And then y'all will see/hear more from me.
**I spent the first 20 years of my life in the Chicago area. But I've now spent the next 34 years in the south. So don't worry, I'm qualified to say "y'all."**

IMHO this site is the friendliest group I’ve ever come across. It’s busy season so everyone has their plate full and summer coming. Everyone tries to jam in all they can because of the weather. I know I’ve been busier than a one legged man in a fanny kicking contest. I’m slowly making headway but things keep breaking in the process. The 646 is now leaking oil from the pump. I guess the seal is wore out, so I parked it until I can take a good look at it. The other site has people joining to get their questions answered because they are having problems with their GT’s. They won’t stay as a regular contributor. Most of the core group from the other site I don’t see them posting anymore. Whatever the case I like you guys because of the camaraderie. Harry

Hehe, I think you fellas would be getting sick and tired of pictures of the wood I’m doing, but don’t worry, next week it will be a different pile of wood.

Dave, I pray for you to recover and feel better, in the meantime sit back and enjoy the show here, as I do my best to provide some sort of tractor entertainment.
No worries everyone, the topic came up as such, but I know we are all busy with lots of stuff. This is our forum, and I emphasize, it is YOUR forum as much as it is mine. Because there is no community made up of one person.
@Harry , very kind words, thanks, and so true. We're a bunch of guys enjoying building and fixing and doing all this crazy stuff to Case garden tractors and more. A pleasure to see friendly exchanges of ideas and various projects, as life is too short and at times is harsh.
And to end my ramble with a bang, let me make you all scratch your heads a little by looking at this image

@propane1 Our cows averaged about 40lbs of milk per milking. The neighbor claimed he had a cow that he didn't have to feed. She sucked herself and milked out 50 pounds of milk. I have never managed to find cows that are low maintenance.

Operator misuse or did something fall on the cylinders? I tried Google image search but the only hit was behind LinkedIn's login wall
Reminds me of when our youngest son was still here. He was cleaning out his car and beat the mats against the tree out front when all of a sudden we heard squealing and saw him running across the yard flailing his arms around . It was quite the sight . Needless to say he found out the hard way that there was a basket ball sized nest up in the tree we did not know about and they did not like him beating on the tree .

yaeh got it done , the is still sorting and putting stuff away . Purging as she goes.
Wait till the cold of night when they are asleep and slip a bag over it quickly tieing it off . then get a couple of the fake nests and hang around the yard. The ones we get are made of paper , so we spray with clear cote to protect them .

I tried the gentle way. Got the nest thrown in the bush across the street. But the wasps came back to the boat. They're trying now to set up a new nest somewhere on the boat. I covered it again with tarp and put a couple of mosquito smoke coils inside.
I got stung again, this time on my ear . Wow did that hurt!!! It's swollen.

Eugen, I’ve used bug bombs made by Raid. They come in a can and when you press the trigger on top they lock open and walk away. They work best in an enclosed area. I’ve also used them in yellow jacket nests in the ground. Set them off at night when they are in the nest and in the morning they are all dead. Harry

I'm off work until January. Took the kids for some shopping on this rainy day. We went to a fairly fancy grocery store named the Canadian Superstore looking for pickles and whipping cream. After not finding pickles I asked the lady at the deli department for the pickles in their own brine, that's in the fridge usually. That's the only kind I like. She said the store will no longer carry that type, only the ones in vinegar. I must've scoffed a little in disbelief. The other lady, that was being served, looked at me kinda harshly and let out a "it is what it is". I guess I got a "shut up Karen" treatment. hehe

Don’t feel alone I did something worse awhile back. I stopped at an upscale grocery store and thought I’d get some lunch from the deli. They had catfish fillets so I ask how much. My hearing must be getting bad because I swear the counter man said $2 a pound. I said I’ll take a pound please. He gives me the fish and the bill I look at it and it’s $10.99! I almost fell over! I said I what is the price? He says $10.99 a pound. Living around the rivers all my life I’ve had quite a bit of catfish and I can assure you I’ve never paid that kind of price! I was shocked and was handing the box back to him when I realized I was kinda making a “Karen” scene, glad I caught myself. I apologized and said I must have misheard you. He gladly took the fish back and I left pondering if I’m really that out of touch or it they are really that overpriced. I think from now on I’ll get fish closer to the river!

Took thse pics by work today. Something doesn't seem right... This is new construction. The old family run restaurant here closed in covid. The restaurant and garage were demolished with an excavator. Where the restaurant and parking lot stood, 6 of these houses are being built.

That is true. I have to get creative a lot of the time. Most of my antiques aren’t in their computer. I used to tell them what it was for just to see the blank look on their faces! Now for instance if I need something for the engine on Herbie the 1961 F550 I have to tell them to look up a 1958 Ford Fairlane!

At the end of the Super Bowl, a fan points to the ground and says to the ref, " You dropped your phone." The ref ask,
"How do you know it's my phone?" The fan replied, "It's got ten missed calls on it."

Yep there is a beeping coming from the 446 cab . it is the CO detector going off because the moisture from the heat of the day yesterday froze up setting it off . Door handles are also frozen so had to with them to get it opened up . That was first for that too . It shut up as soon as I got it in and warmed / dried out . No to go back and finish my .

Exactly what I thought. I do have a couple of metal working shop books but it seemed to me I can fake much of it and when in doubt I come here and ask from others who either are properly learned or successfully faking it for many years, which I call experience. Hehe! I'm not building submarines after all.

I know back years ago there were one are loaders for some farm tractors . But I never understood the point , two arms are twice as good .

Wow that’s sketchy, even by my standards! but I guess at least there is some good scrap left over!
@DavidBarkey I don’t know how popular they were, but International offered a one arm loader for the Cub and I think the model A Farmalls.
It makes sense on these tractors because they are offset, what they called “Cultavision”. The driver sits to the right of the tractor so they can see the rows easily when cultivating.
Having said that I’m not sure why someone would want that on a normal inline tractor. To your point two arms are better than one.

On a different note... those mono boom loaders on the offset IH "Cultavision" farm tractors are interesting, I hadn't seen them before.
JCB also makes a mono boom on their "Robot" series of skid steer loaders. That could be a plus in a skid steer, giving better visibility on the LH side, but the engineering involved... I don't know, still seems more common sense to just have a pair of loader arms...

Cadplans have plans for one arm GT loader. Advantage, one boom, two cylinders instead of four = cheaper.

Haha, thank you @FUTZ . Good as it may be, the asymmetry rubs me the wrong way. I'd be horrified to push it a little harder too. But surely someone out there appreciates it and doesn't perpetually have the feeling that it's just an "unfinished" project. Talk about cutting corners, eh?

Hello my name is Eugen and I am a putterer.
Lots of things have been happening but little time to report. I've been making wood board from the ash logs, hard dusty work. I'll post a longer report on that as some things have been revealed to me while doing it and that may be helpful for some.
The man I sold the yellow 644 got himself a JD backhoe so he brought the 644 with an oil leak asking for a fix and if I could sell it. The fix was just tighten a nut on the pipe that goes to the hydraulic drive, easy fix.
Now I just adjusted the not-ez-clutch on the 224. Got a front tire that loses air that I will fix and then on for sale it goes.

I agree with your posting. As Toby Keith said in one of his songs. I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good as I ever was, or something like that. Yes people get in trouble sometimes, but being older we’re wiser. Taking knowledge from past experiences to help figure out a problem. Be careful at the roost Gerry. Harry
