Quick modification.

On the Case 224 snowblower, the handle to turn the chute back and forth, was always down low. You had to bend down quite a bit to reach the handle. Which made it sorta awkward to use. So I made an extension to raise it up. It’s a lot better now. But still not enough snow to try it. But I know by just sitting on the seat, it’s going to be much better.
So the crank went thur the crank holder where I put the bolt , to hold the new extension on.
Is this the factory place for the crank to go thru ?
Ok found more pictures. But it’s hard to see where the crank was originally.
Any way, it’s going to be a great help having it up higher, and I can basically sit straight up and use the crank, where as before I had to bend to my right to get the handle.

My casters both were a lot higher than your , but were on 446s . I still found them a pain to use , thats why I went electric . That mod. should make it easier to use Noel

Noel from looking at your pics it seems hard to believe the Case engineers would have made the crank handle so low and hard to reach. Your modification is so much better than it was. I agree with David my 446 was much higher but mine always seemed to bind up and a pain to use. So I also put an electric motor on to move the chute. Harry

I agree that's way better, and I wonder about if the lift arm was right from the start. Or did they make a different arm depending on if you got a big wheel, vs small? I don't recall this in the past.

As everyone, the crank linkage kinda binds. I always found if I pull it toward me while turning, it ran better. I also put a big aluminum spinner on the end so I can grab it with gloves.

Still haven't had a storm to blow... Nothing but a couple inches of powder each storm that clean up better with the blade behind the 8N.

I shot some WD40 on my SB48 crank linkage and the binding got much better. Still waiting on snow to try it out.

Great idea toolslinger with the spinner and pull toward you. We’ve been getting a little snow almost every day, but only a dusting. No need to remove it.
