Re: Those little rodents

They have torn up my 444 twice now. They have also done a number on the MF 202, my '65 F750, and attempted to go after the '48 Diamond T. They also got in the blower housing of the JD140. (that was just a mess, not damage) We've tried mothballs, and dryer sheets, and I can't say I've seen any positi...

20240111_085326.jpg 20240111_085512.jpg Those look like architectural shingles, but the pattern is real weird, so it wouldn't shock me if the offset was not right. I've got them on my house, new less than 10 years ago. The previous batch held for 40+ years. It's an A-Frame, tucked in the woods, so ...

Re: New to me band saw

You're actually good to go for aluminum as is. Pretty much the same with brass. Steel you're going to need to slow way down obviously. If you have any kind of choice, I'd really recomend finding a second saw for steel. Apart from changing the blade, you're going to need to really clean up the saw be...

Re: Snow Caster Belt Tension and Specs

I know I was less than impressed with my 38" caster... That's an older machine, so likely the 6.5" pulley. The 48 was excellent until I killed the belt, and that's got a 6". Until I tried it, I wasn't convinced the Case would equal my Deere. Now, assuming it doesn't keep eating belts,...

Re: The weather

I should have checked, but the belt on there now was with my 38" caster, which was an older unit, so likely the 6.5 pulley. That would make a difference. Just ordered a couple of the correct belts. Hopefully they get here before another batch of snow, but I'm ok regardless... Plenty of snow mov...

Re: The weather

I haven't noted any significant pitting. The 48" caster I recently bought looks pretty much like new. Still had OEM paint inside the tub, and chute, so it hasn't seen many hours. I've never looked at the pulley on the clutch, so that will have to wait. I could certainly believe slipping based o...

Re: 8N points

They flood with just a hint of choke... Otherwise, this machine has been so rock solid for so long, I can't imagine doing the 12v switch. I believe I need to go through my carb again as well. Runs great, but I think the float valve is sketchy. We always just shut the valve at the tank after use so w...

8N points

Well, as I was getting prepped for the storm I just got through, I wanted to a) make sure everything had topped off batteries, and b) move them around a bit to get the cars inside the barn. Well, that's when I found that I had left the ignition on, on the 8N. The 6v battery was stone cold dead. So o...

Snow Caster Belt Tension and Specs

Ok... So the caster worked great, until it chewed up the belt... I put another that I had on hand from my previous 38" caster. I'm suspicious of it... It's in great shape, and it has possibly 1 hour on it if that. However the spring tensioner has almost no additional room to take up slack when ...

Re: The weather

Well, I woke up to 8" of heavy wet snow. Back door: 2024-01-07 08.07.48.jpg Side Porch: 2024-01-07 08.06.59.jpg Front Porch: 2024-01-07 08.08.17.jpg Sadly, the Case lives in a garage behind that little yellow building in the distance on the right. Probably 500 feet from the house. I may start k...
