Re: Creating a narative?

This is my text. image.png And that is my (sample) picture. I just open the image in my picture viewing program (I use Irfanview but others work similar) and hit "copy" then type what I want, then hit "ctrl-v" (the universal keyboard shortcut for "paste". Think of the &...

Re: New to me band saw

https://www.ebay.com/itm/126271391181 If anyone wants to do the bench mounted portable like I've described, this is the saw you're after. It's actually a clone of an older style porter cable porta band saw. The newer versions all have the motor housing up opposite of the exposed blade area. But thes...

Re: New to me band saw

Don't bother looking at the speed controllers. Those only work on universal motors and what you have on here is an induction motor. So the speed controller won't do a thing for it. To get the blade down to metal cutting speeds you'll just need to put in a jack shaft. Orrrrrr..... You could put a lit...

Re: Needs a project??

It really should be articulated. A rigid frame for the rear wheeled dumper somehow offends my sensibility. :hm: :giggle: :violin: It probably has individual wheel motors and the wheel timing based on the steering input. I'll bet it practically spins in place like a skidloader. Right?  ...

Re: Needs a project??

What is now my three-point back blade was originally an underbelly blades on my 442. And that thing was amazing. You can get so much effective down pressure on that blade. I had just finished it when we had an ice storm. And I was able to peel the frozen ice off of the asphalt on the hill in front o...

Re: Plasma cutter

Eugen, you've impressed me as usual. Very nicely done. On a separate note, I recently replaced the handpiece/torch on my Cut50 plasma cutter with the "pilot arc" type. It essentially integrates it's own ground into the cone/tip, so when you pull the trigger it instantly becomes a little mi...

Re: Subsoiler/ripper attachment

Well I had a bit of time today and the weather permitted, so I got started on my trench. The ripping bar installed in literally seconds. Then I adjusted the top link to get a strong backward rake. I later dialled that back about halfway, it seems to to do better that way. image.png image.png image.p...

Re: Case D100 backhoe

Again great points made, and my design is evolving a bit further. At first I planned to make the "trailer" tongue "as long as possible" as i mentioned, to give leverage to the "small" weight of the tractor's back end. Then I decided to intentionally make the tongue out ...

Re: Case D100 backhoe

Good and helpful observations from you both. I'll be sure to incorporate some kind of ground-engaging cleats on all four ground pads. Maybe I can get clever like Case did and make flippable outrigger feet, one side with cleats the other with a smooth pad. The other direction I'm thinking is that for...

Re: Case D100 backhoe

great minds think alike? Because I'm thinking along similar lines with the 3pt hitch bar. Looking at towable backhoes on youtube, most of them set up for a 4-point stance for digging: the two outriggers at the hoe end and some kind of fixed resting pads at the hitch end. So I'm thinking of that appr...
