Re: Got the 646 out of the moth balls
Maybe add a quart of thicker oil to the hydraulic tank or an auxiliary cooler?

Re: Vanguard 12.5HP/14HP/16HP/18HP carburetor cleaning
Thanks guys  I wasn't able to mulch up the grass clippings from yesterday so I put my hydravac on to pick up the grass clippings. Tractor did ok... it's easily overwhelmed by a lot of grass clippings especially when driving up the small hill in my yard. I've seen other people with the same s...

Re: Vanguard 12.5HP/14HP/16HP/18HP carburetor cleaning
I reviewed the vanguard service manual section on the governor settings again today. It didn't really give me any ideas. The governor springs are all installed in the correct holes in the correct orientation. I went out to mow for a few minutes to warm it up. Still has no power. After throttling dow...

Re: Vanguard 12.5HP/14HP/16HP/18HP carburetor cleaning
I got my tractor all back together this afternoon and took it out to mow. Starts right up but still lacks power. At times the no load RPM approached 3800. I will get that fixed. I quit after about 300' and decided to change out the plugs. I put in a new set of basic champion plugs with the gap set t...

Re: Vanguard 12.5HP/14HP/16HP/18HP carburetor cleaning
Those things do a great job of cleaning . Hope this is the end of it and you can get on with things. I hope so too. I did some 10PM engine reassembly several nights this week. I left the engine disconnected from the hydraulic pump, slid forward on the frame and clamped in place for tuning. Engine s...

Re: Marketplace rant
Well the same exact RM48 mowing deck shows up on marketplace for $100 this week. I didn't see it until mid week due to working too much/raising kids/my wife working (I watch the kids)... Seller responded and told me I was 2nd in line. Again I offered more money and no response. Listing is gone again...

Re: Vanguard 12.5HP/14HP/16HP/18HP carburetor cleaning
David the idle screw was 5/8 to 3/4 turn out from the seat. Service manual says to start at 1&1/4 turn and adjust from there and if needed richen it up another 1/8 turn. I'll put the limiter cap on in a position where I can richer it up more. After breaking down the carb, I gave it another clean...

Re: Sunflowers
Any idea what kind you planted? We grew some that my kids planted in pots at the local library. They grew (in the ground) to 7 or 8' tall.

Re: Vanguard 12.5HP/14HP/16HP/18HP carburetor cleaning
Hour and a half later the carb is out :headbash: I borrowed an ultrasonic cleaner with heat from work. Going to try distilled water and simple green. I'll break down the carb tomorrow. I haven't ever taken the idle mixture screw out. It's under a stupid limiter cap. I'll count the number of turns un...
