DavidBarkey yes, there was oil in the pump housing, but none around the shaft seal. I happened to have another pump with 1/2 inch shaft so I'll try to...

I got a feeling these are cracks in the pump body

Argh! My dear 644 which I just wanted to put for sale shows a small hydraulic oil leak at the pump. Cannot sell it like that so the engine needs to move forward and the pump to come out.
