Re: 444 won't start, makes loud screeching sound
Hard to believe it's not related to the work you just did. What exactly did you do to the TCV? To upload a video you use youtube or vimeo and then post the link here. But probably safer to not keep on starting it. Maybe the hydraulics are plugged somehow, that'll kill the engine immediately as the ...

444 won't start, makes loud screeching sound
So I went to run my 444 yesterday. Freshly changed oil, cleaned and assembled TCV, new hour meter etc. Went to turn the key and it was screeching. Stopped and tried again and it fired right up. Ran it for about 10 minutes...it died. Starting smoking a wee bit from just behind the air filter it looke...

Re: Attachment knob?
So is it screwed in and out? Or is it pulled up and down?

Attachment knob?
I've checked all the owners manuals in the library and there seems to be none that show this knob. What does it do? Is it supposed to slide up and down? I can't get it to do that but I am able to unscrew it. On the the threaded rod there is a triangular piece of metal sticking off of it. Has me wond...

Re: Looking for 48" mower deck and 48" snowcaster
I have a rebuilt 48" , but does not have the snap fast part of the mule drive . If someone want to buy it from me and then make a deal with turboff then many will get what they want . I have two parts that go with the 60 deck which I am assuming is the mule drive which I dont think will even f...

Re: Looking for 48" mower deck and 48" snowcaster
Are you looking for a trade or to buy and/or to sell? Well if its mower deck for mower deck, a trade plus cash probably. I've been perusing the facebook groups and it seems these 60" decks, in good shape sell for practically double what a comparable 48 goes for. I'm not trying to get rich. But...

Re: Float Position & Battery Hold down
Normally it should stay in float by itself until you move it out of the detent. Sounds like the TCV might be damaged or something is missing. On my 444 it doesn't even feel like a detent there, so want to take the TCV off and see if I can fix it. Someone here might know if there is a ball/spring me...

Float Position & Battery Hold down
Hey gang, On my new to 444 (1971) I have a float position I am using while plowing snow. When I push the lever up I can feel the detent, but the lever does not stay there. It resets back to a neutral position. Is there something I can look for to verify that is actually in the float position? Is the...
