Re: 2007 Dakota

I had an 87 Dakota, the first year they came out. I sold it at 260,000 kilometers and it had zero rust. I have a 95 Dakota which is now a bush truck because there has been no body on it since 135,000 kilometers, nothing but a rust bucket. Even the front bumper has holes rusted through it. My dad has...

Re: 1961 Ford F500 project.

The rear wheels on the left hand side will be left hand threads as well. But, maybe somebody changed them to right hand thread at some point. I know when I worked at the Chrysler dealership back in the day, they did away with the left hand threaded studs and you could only get right hand as a replac...

Re: Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

Yes, I would not reuse the plastic gear. I installed a new plastic gear in a magnum when I rebuilt it a few years ago. I would put a new plastic one in this engine but I have the steel gear out of a K241 that looks like new so I want to install it. But I need the thrust washer.

Re: Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

Yes, the original steel gear is your typical dark steel looking color. The later plastic gears for the K series and magnums are a white or beige color nylon. But the gears for the later Command and Courage engines are a dark nylon that use the pins to lock the gear into place. Basically the pins are...

Re: Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

Here is a pic of the back side of the gear that uses the pin. Looks like black plastic and a different set up.

Re: Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

Sure that isn't a black plastic gear set up for newer engines? The steel gear I have that came off the K241 did not have those pins and looks just like the plastic gear in the K341 and just slides on the stub shaft like the plastic gear. I just watched a video of that Taryl fixes all installing the ...

Re: Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

Yeah, he said he has no washers for sale as Kohler no longer sells them so any he has he keeps for rebuilding.

Re: Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

Yeah, Mike from enginebore just got back to me. He said there should be a thrust washer. He is going to measure the thickness of one tonight. I agree, it is not for a spacing role but rather a protection role where the gear would contact the block. I don't think the washer is stuck to the block but ...

Kohler K341 governor thrust washer

I have a question regarding governor thrust washers on Kohler K series. Were they used on all Kohler K series engines? I ask because I am rebuilding a K341. There was no thrust washer on the governor stub shaft. I figured there should be as I know various service manuals remark about installing the ...

Re: 1961 Ford F500 project.

I'm in the same boat regarding my tow truck. It is badly in need of all 4 tires. Sure doesn't warrant new tires.
