Re: tire repair

Ok, so it's time to fire up the ol' leaf sucker. Step one, remove the loader, step two install the ball hitch adapter on the three point. Step three, air up the tires on the leaf trailer (which are actually the rear wheels off of my first real garden tractor, a 1970 Cub Cadet that I ended up parting...

Re: Winter Storage

I'm currently working on a tire on my yard vac trailer that sat flat all winter, and then the tire sidewall has a 4" long split right at the point where it folded in half against the dirt. I'm trying to get another season or so out of it, sewing the gash closed with heavy thread, and gluing a r...

Re: Trip to Romania

Beautiful, very pastoral scenes! It seems so peaceful and predictable, far from the hustle that we experience in the west. I'd really enjoy it there. For the first two weeks. Then I'd start a desperate hunt for some kind of tooling or machinery, something to keep my mind and hands busy, trying not t...

Re: I know I have asked before...but?

It's possible, not easy, to silk-screen print these kinds of tags at home: https://www.casecoltingersoll.com/threads/what-year-448.93400/ To create the mask for a very small/intricate design, you need a higher end inkjet printer. For simpler, larger designs, you can cut out the mask with a Cricut. I...

Re: Messing around in the shop

In working on this particular implement, you really want to have your wits about you and plenty of patience.

Because if you make the wrong mistake working on this, then you'll be less of a man than when you started!

Yikes!

Re: Roll pin steering shaft

I am in the need of a new roll pin steering shaft for my rebuild 1987 444 GT. I will be using a late type steering wheel off a 4 digit should I stay with the C23626 23 7/8 inch shaft or move to C33940 25 3/8 length shaft? I guess the question mainly is why the length change? I don't know offhand th...

Re: 644 more pics

@thebuildist Did you end up boosting the 4020 attachment relief pressure up from 475 psi? Yes, I ended up blocking off the attachment relief altogether. Which gave me around 2,000 or 2,300 psi out of the power beyond port. Which is fine for what my loader cylinders need. Then I had to install new p...

Re: 644 more pics

@thebuildist I'm not sure I actually understand that. The 644 also has a hydraulic cylinder under the tractor, for attachments, right? I took apart that attachment cylinder. I could be wrong but that cylinder doesn't seem to be constructed for a 1000 psi pressure. Well, understand that I've never a...
